Shridhar Gopal Gharat (born 1st February 1954) is a teacher from Raigad in Maharashtra.

Early life

Shridhar Gharat was born on 1st February 1954 in Bahirole, Taluka Alibaug, District Raigad. He did his primary education from an institute in Chondi and graduation at Alibaug

It was 25th June 1978, when he arrived in Mumbai to fulfill his further academic aspirations. He completed his B.Ed. from Gokhale Education Society.

Career

He started his professional career with the Forensics Lab of J. J. Hospital.

He served in Bradley Night School, one of Mumbai's oldest night schools from 1978 to 1983. He established a well-equipped science lab with support by Principal Shri. A. R. Bapat. Nirdhar warg, a free of cost weekend initiative for the academic progress of poor and needy students was initiated and conducted by him for 5 years.

In 1980, He joined Chikitsak Samuha Shirolkar High School and Junior College. Principal Shri. V. S. Nabar Sir (a National Awardee) constantly inspired and encouraged him towards the path of teaching excellence. Basic hygiene and sanitation for students and teachers was his primary agenda for the school. His student Paresh Vaidya secured first place in the Merit List in the year 1993. His compassion towards students and attention to teacher's demand made him popular as ' Student's Teacher'

In 2004, He was appointed as a principal of Marwari Commercial High School and Junior College governed by Hindustan Chambers of Commerce. For the next 8 years, Sir emphasized on cleanliness and renovation of the school. A mid-day meal scheme was launched in association with the ISKCON group. A ward-level science exhibition was hosted. Honorable Member of parliament Murali Deora (Ex-Student), Honourable Mrs. Jayawantiben Mehta, Honourable M. P. Venugopal Dhoot ( Ex-Student ) always extended unforgettable support and contributions to his initiatives.

Social Impact

A lecture series for SSC students was arranged by Bharatiya Yuwa Morcha. He was honored with a Gold medal for straight 8 years, as the best teacher for his contribution to the series.

Shri. S. Y. Godbole, National Awardee Teacher, was a father figure for him. With him alongside, sir conducted more than 600 workshops, lectures, and guidance series for students across Ratnagiri (30 yrs), Satara (15 yrs), Kokan (20 yrs), Raigad (20 yrs).

Kanak Pratishthan was founded and established in the year 2000 by him. This association with more than 200 members has been constantly working for students, social workers, and parents across Maharashtra for the past 20 years. Dr. Mahatme (Padmashree Awardee) has been a constant supporter of this cause.

He is the author of more than 120 books for students. He has been publishing articles in leading newspapers for guiding students, teachers, and parents. He is also the composer of more than 200 poems across four collections, Nirop, Varshav, Utsav, and Dari. He has actively participated in Akhil Bharatiya Marathi Sahitya Sammelan ( Nanded, Thane, Mumbai )

In the year 2003, Sir was honored by the State Award from the Government of Maharashtra as the best teacher for his contribution to the field.

He has been awarded Dr. RadhaKrishnan Best Teacher Award (2000), Vocational Excellence Award (2007), National Ekatmata Fellowship (2008).

He was honored by Dr. Nitu Mandake, Dr. Rafiq Zakeria, Shri. Aakashananda (TV Producer for Dyandeep), and Shri. Suresh Prabhu recognizing his contribution to the field. Actress Madhuri Dixit, Indian International Cricketer Ajinkya Rahane, Bollywood Producer Amit Mohan, Actor Swapnil Joshi are some of his students in Limelight.

Personal Life

He married Savita Gharat in 1986, who is a retired Grade I officer in the Central Government of India. The couple has a son and a daughter.
